Pirates and Boots

Pirates who talk in German are clearly even better than regular pirates. However even the mighty Edward Teach probably never wore shiny red boots.

Cat and Luke

Here's a homage to Cat and Girl, which I did as a card for my sister (Cat) and her bloke (Luke).

Dreaming of Pies

First proper drawing since finishing the MSc. This was for a birthday card, which seems to be a good motivator for actually making me get something done.

Used a combination of ink and watercolour. Also the first real use of my newly acquired brushpen - brilliant for thick lines/areas, but the fact the ink is not waterproof got a bit annoying. Need to experiment some more methinks.

Water Colour

A water colour girl, using india ink (which is waterproof) for the lines, all done on bristol board.

See those supplies I consumer whored for haven't gone to waste. Definately pays to get quality supplies - the colours are really strong and cover well. Watercolours are also a bit more malleable after the fact (compared with inks), so hopefully it'll make life easier later on.

Slight spring clean

Re-did the main drawings page today. I hacked together a little shell-script to do the work of creating thumbnails and generating the html. Should make life a bit simpler. I guess next stop would be to fully automate the process so I just drop the image into the directory and it gets resized and added to the main page (and uploaded). Hmmm.

Mao

Jen Wang draws these really cute girls, with big expressive eyes and I love her stuff. So seeing as imitation is the sincerist form of flattery here is a cute girl. Annoyingly after scanning this in I thought I'd try and colour it too - bad idea. Just glad I scanned it in before hand.

drawing movies

BRaInS

I still have not plucked up the courage to see the remake of Dawn of the Dead. I also hope to break the vicious cycle of me watching zombie movies on my own in the cinema, but I need to find a willing accomplice...

I also so have to see Shaun of the Dead.

Anyway zombies are clearly in this season so here's a light bulb zombie man.

A Sketch

Thought I'd upload a sketch for once. So here is a (headless) girl in knickers. There might be another version (inked) later, but I'm gonna wait to get the bristol board that Luke has got hold of for me.

Due to overseas demand

Well I got some more supplies so thought I'd try them out by drawing a red haired girl.

This one was on pre-stretched water colour paper, which was nice as it meant I could just chuck on loads of ink without fear of the dreaded crinkles.

How to avoid writing your report

As a form of ultimate work avoidance I made a little web-comic.

Dancin' Loon

Well I thought I'd try out themasking fluid I procured at the weekend. It's handy for covering stuff up, so you can then do backgrounds. It's basically just watered down copydex, so once it's try you can just peel it off the paper.

So here is a little picture of some dancin' loon with loads of splatters in the background. The masking fluid worked pretty well, though I think I missed a copy of spots on the arms.

500 words (and a cute devil)

Got off to a better start on my report and have now passed 500 words. That's not a lot, but it is still something. Hopefully I'll be inspired by the movies on TV over xmas and get some more done soon.

Also drew a devil girl. She is meant to be looking backwards, but her neck seems not quite right. Still at least now I have a good dark red to use.

Serious Procastination

Well now that I'm on holiday I'm meant to be very busy writing my MSc project report and so on (I am), but I have been procrastinating slightly so drawn a few more cute girls.
